The Habit EP cd $10 postpaid

American folk songs (that rock!). Written and rewritten, sung and spoke, played, improved or ruined by every artist or group of artists known and unknown since the birth of recorded music. This is The Habit template. The Habit EP continues the lineage, whether it's borrowing and adding to the lyrics of anonymous cowboy songs from over a century ago (“The Habit”, “The Killer”, & “Hellbound Train”), or nicking the title of a late 1700's song and setting in it present day Iraq (“Son of the Desert Am I”). They've also thrown in Woody Guthrie, Lucinda Williams & Washington Phillips' songs they loved. To them, it's acknowledging the forefathers & keeping the spirit vital and relevant. Make no mistake, The Habit are not purists, they revel in adding different musical styles to traditional forms like many before & have added a growing stable of originals (“Wrong” on the EP) to boot. Recorded at N.Y. Hed studios, home of many a dirt slingin bands (Jon Spencer, Heavy Trash, The Fleshtones, Speedball Baby among em), the mix of analog tape, a vintage board and the talents of engineer/overseer/punk legend Ivan Julian (Richard Hell & the Voidoids) adds the final touch to a mix that makes the introduction.
Meet The Habit. The seeds are well entrenched.
The EP is available in CD or digital format (iTunes, CDBaby and most major download sites).

Hayday
- So Far, So Good, So What

While there has been a revolving cast of characters throughout the last half-decade, the one constant of Hayday has been Greg Wilson's unerring vision of no-nonsense isolated Americana rock and roll; his Southern sense of storytelling matched with his Midwestern pop sensibilities meet perfectly in a hot kitchen on the East River in Brooklyn where So Far, So Good, So What was recorded. Not as drunk as The Replacements and more sentimental than the Ramones, Hayday goes for broke every time they plug in-- the result is songs of loneliness and desperation played in a garage with the motor running. Throw in the production wits of Will Croxton (DT & the Shakes, Idle, The Royal Wylds) and you know at the very least you won't be bored. Teaming up with Wilson are Marah regulars David & Serge Bielanko and Kirk Henderson along with the indefatigable Brian Patterson on drums and guitar impresario Stephen Lewis. This is the group's first (but hopefully not last) LP.
It's available in digital format only now on iTunes, CDBaby and most major download sites.

'Babylon' is the first in a series of EPs New York City's Royal Wylds will release in 2007/2008. Babylon features six tunes of The Wylds' amazing garage/blues. Highlights include Bush admin inspired surreal raves of paranoia; a lamentation of the man in black's final days after his wife's death; a saloon torch w/ a baaaaaadass solo from band DH/guitar legend Ivan Julian; and a funk crunch tribute to the king of the bare knuckle fights and youtube celeb Kimbo featuring vocals by girl group upstarts The Shalitas. You gotta get this! The EP is available now on iTunes and most major download sites.

sadly broke up after 6 years, 77 shows and the worst van ever
purchased. The final song in the “Believe in Stereo”
song cycle is a cover of Ray Davies/Kinks classic “Oklahoma
USA”. A mainstay of their live set, the song gives the
band a chance to visit one of their faves and put their inimitable
stamp on it.

- The 1%

“The
1%”- is about carving out a way of life separate from
the larger, quite bizarre world in which we spend most of
our time. It does not attempt to provide an alternative to
Western-style democratic capitalism, but merely a simple reminder
that life is fundamentally played out within the more intimate communities that we ourselves create. It is a Signal of Unending
Joy: please drop out, tune in and join the 1% yourself.
